HEALING FOR THE INTUITIVE BRAIN

For the past few weeks I’ve been sick … again…Sinus infection, raging cold, headache that refuses to go away, all the joys of a Texas winter!  I was in a yoga class this evening and we did one OM chant before beginning the practice.   With just the vibrations in my throat and chest from this word, I could feel myself swell with tears that burned behind my eyelids.

I’ve been practicing yoga long enough to know when something like this happens; I have some spring-cleaning to do in one or more chakras, in this case my Third Eye Chakra.”

I arrived home from the studio and I wanted to keep the TV off, and sit in the emotion that was coming up for me in class.  I did a little research on the word OM… According to Pantanjali, OM is the vibration or “humming of God”.  By chanting OM and drawing out the M on a slow exhalation, it can be a form of connecting with God and listening.

“If you close your eyes and ears, sit quietly, allow the mind to be completely silent and listen within, you will hear God humming.  God talks to us always but we talk so loud we fail to hear it.” The Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali.

So how does OM relate to the Third Eye Chakra or Intuition, (your gut)?  The third eye chakra is located between your eyebrows and is represented in a purple/blue shade.  When this chakra is blocked on can expect physical symptoms such as headaches, sinus infections, and eye problems, to name a few.  This usually occurs if there is something in your life you’re refusing to see about a relationship or situation.  (Also caused from emotional abuse or the overuse of alcohol or drugs.)

Emotionally, when your third eye chakra is blocked you tend to have trouble making decisions, feel stuck in a rut, and creativity become stalled.

You can begin clearing this chakra with a small meditation:

Sit in a place quietly, closing your eyes and begin to focus on your breath.  Select on of the following oils that you have:

Lavender

Lemon

Peppermint

Clary Sage

Juniper Berry

Rosemary

Begin by putting 1-3 drops of your selected oil into your hands, rubbing them together and bringing them to your face.  Close your eyes and Inhale for a count of 4-6, pausing, then Exhale for the same count of 4-6.

Repeat this 5-7 times.

Lower your hands and take a deep Inhale.  On your Exhale sat the word OM, drawing out the M through your whole exhale, allowing the vibration to tickle your throat, lips and ears.

Repeat as many times as you wish.

Then sit quietly with yourself recognizing how you feel.  You may need to repeat this for several days until you feel the clarity and spiritual connection with God/Universe or Higher Power.

These meditations, while only lasting a few minutes are my moments asking for healing of my body.  You may see this in many different ways or try it and discover chanting isn’t for you.  Using the oils to allow you to connect with your intuition will enrich you more than you can imagine.  So often we are rushing to and from that it’s easy to drown out what our bodies are telling us…being quiet and listening will give you the answers you seek.
